In May 2022 I was invited by the Scottish Artists Union to hold a workshop entitled ‘How to Write’ as part of their learning programme. Over the course of three sessions at Cove Park we talked about the problem of matching the ‘authenticity’ of speech in writing, the expectations of ‘art speak’, valuing ‘simplicity’, the importance of the physical process in thinking through ideas, the difficulty of defining your self/practice for artist statements and bios, and much more.
